Evonik is one of the largest companies in the world devoted to specialty chemicals, and one of their products, ROHACELL®, is widely used in printed circuit board fabrication. ROHACELL® is a lightweight structural foam that features extremely low dielectric constants and favorable transmission.

Applications range from miniature antenna and X-ray and CT machines to radomes and mammography plates.
Other advantages include an extremely fine cell structure that ensures minimal resin uptake and problem-free compatibility with metallic facing materials due to the absence of corrosive effects.
Fine-cell materials can be processed by hand lay-up, prepreg, or vacuum infusion techniques at pressures up to 0.3 MPa and temperatures up to 130°C. Cirexx commonly uses ROHACELL® in place of an air spacer between radomes and elements in antenna application by applying the ROHACELL® to an antenna PCB.
